Visegrad School of Political Studies meets Russia
On 6th October 2015 a meeting with the participants of the Visegrad School of Political Studies meets Russia programme, organized by the European Academy of Diplomacy and the Office of the Commissioner for Human Rights, was held at the premises of the Office. NGO workers, analysts, journalists and activists from the Visegrad Group states and Russia took part in the meeting. The representatives of the Office presented the overview of the Commissioners’ activities, as well as the priorities and procedures of the specific teams. In the course of the discussion the procedure for reception of complaints, questions related to human rights protection system, the functioning of the National Preventive Mechanism and the situation of refugees in Poland were discussed.
Visegrad School of Political Studies meets Russia is the newest programme of the School that aims at supporting civil society, combating stereotypes and strengthening ties between young social and political leaders from Visegrad Group and Russia. The agenda of its first edition, organized this year by the European Academy of Diplomacy with support from the Council of Europe and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Poland, focuses on the experience of Eastern Europe in the formation of institutions of civil society, the development of democracy and public diplomacy.
The meeting constituted an element of the efforts undertaken by the Commissioner for Human Rights aiming at strengthening the human rights protection system through education.
