Deputy Commissioner for Human Rights visiting Ukraine

Mr. Krzysztof Olkowicz, the Deputy Commissioner for Human Rights of the Republic of Poland, took part in the international conference on the role of the national human rights institutions in the conflict and post-conflict situations on 20th-22nd October 2015. In the course of the event organized in Kiev by the Parliamentary Commissioner for Human Rights of Ukraine with support from the United Nations Development Programme, Mr. Olkowicz had the opportunity to present the new priorities and working methods of the Commissioner for Human Rights (including his cooperation with the NGOs), as well as answer the questions connected to the situation of war veterans in Poland. A meeting with H. E. Henryk Litwin, the Polish Ambassador to Ukraine, was a part of the agenda. During their conversation, Mr. Olkowicz and Ambassador Litwin discussed the issues related to the potential cooperation during the organization of the Eastern Partnership Ombudsmen summit on migration crisis, in case this initiative meets with the interest on part of the European Parliament.
